Box Score DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Eastern University scored late in the first half and added two more early in the second, as the Eagles posted a 3-2 victory over host Delaware Valley College in a Freedom Conference game.
The win improved Eastern to 11-3-1 overall and 3-1-1 in the Freedom while the Aggies slipped back to .500 overall (8-8-1) and 1-4 in league action.
Delaware Valley got on the scoreboard 17 minutes into the contest as a
Steve Mannato shot hit the goalpost, but the rebound went right to
Alec Scarano, who put it in the net for his third goal of the season.
It remained a 1-0 lead until the latter stages of the opening stanza when Eastern's Jonathan Nazon beat the goalkeeper to the ball and had an open net for the tying score. It came with 3:50 left on the clock and the game went to the intermission tied at 1-1.
The Eagles got the go-ahead goal just 3:33 in the second went Josh Circocco sent a cross into the box and Eric Giovagnoli was there for his ninth tally of the year. Three minutes later, Giovagnoli and Mitch Osterhouse had a two-on-one and Osterhouse connected for a 3-1 lead.
The Aggies made it a one-goal contest with 6:18 to go as
Peter Tantillo headed a pass to Mannato, who blasted it into the far corner for his team-best eighth goal of the season. However, Delaware Valley couldn't get the tying goal and Eastern left the field with the conference win.
Eastern had an 18-7 advantage in shots. All-conference goalkeeper
Chase Clement stopped seven of those opportunities for Delaware Valley while Joe Centeno had four saves for the Eagles.
