Crystal Ronan tied the Delaware Valley College all-time record for service aces as the Aggies swept a tri-match on the road Wednesday. They opened with a 3-0, Freedom Conference win over host FDU-Florham and followed with a 3-0 triumph over non-conference foe Maritime College.
Delaware Valley improved to 10-12 overall with the two wins while its Freedom record moved up to 2-3.
Ronan came into the tri-match with 187 service aces. She notched five aces against FDU-Florham and tallied seven more against Maritime. That tied her for the all-time record with Andrea Held, who played for the Aggies from 2004-07. Ronan also had a combined 59 assists on the evening and her 2,516 career helpers is just six shy of the career mark of 2,522 set by Laura Moore from 1999 to 2002.
The Aggies began the competition with set scores of 25-20, 25-19 and 25-20 over FDU-Florham (16-16, 2-3). It was the team's first win over the Devils in head coach Shawn Rush's 11-year tenure.
Janel Gluch finished with 18 kills while
Destinee Horning had 10 kills and 20 digs.
Alyssa Riggins added nine kills and 17 digs.
Delaware Valley completed the sweep by taking set scores of 25-5, 25-10 and 25-10 over Maritime (1-21). Everyone on the Aggie roster got in the match with
Gina Page posting a match-high nine kills. Horning had seven kills while Gluch and Riggins finished with six kills apiece.
Samantha King served up three aces while Lily Gilbert had a team-high six digs.
Amy Bodine had four kills and
Nicole Daigneault finished with four digs.
