Box Score DOYLESTOWN (PA) – King's College scored three times in the first eight-plus minutes of the game, en route to a 4-2, Freedom Conference victory over host Delaware Valley College
The victory was the first for the Monarchs (6-3-3, 1-1) in conference play this year while the Aggies fell to 7-6-1 overall and 0-2 in the Freedom.
King's got the scoring started early when a misplayed ball by a Delaware Valley defender ended up in the back of his own net just 80 seconds into the contest. Less than four minutes later, Anthony Tuminello got his head on a throw-in from Chris Nygren and beat the Aggie keeper to put the Monarch's up 2-0. In the eight minute mark, it was Daniel Hernandez getting his foot on the cross from Nygren off a free kick attempt for an early three-goal lead.
Delaware Valley countered less than two minutes later when
Peter Tantillo took advantage of a defensive error as he stole the ball from the King's keeper and put it in the open net. However, at the halfway mark of the opening stanza, Mike Smart got the goal back for the Monarchs to retain the three-goal lead going into halftime.
The score remained 4-1 for most of the second half until the 88th minute when Tantillo found the back of the net for his second goal of the game (fifth of the year), this one off a rebound from an
Alec Scarano shot.
Chase Clement played all 90 minutes in net for the Aggies and made four saves. Mark Labbadia (67-plus minutes) and Karl Jamiolkowski (22-plus minutes) each had two saves for King's, which held a 24-13 advantage in shots.
