LATE RALLY FALLS SHORT AS AGGIE MEN DROP 69-63 DEICSION AT DESALES

Box Score CENTER VALLEY (PA) – DeSales University went on a 25-8 run in the second half and then had to hold on at the end for a 69-63 victory over visiting Delaware Valley College in a Freedom Conference game.

The win kept the Bulldogs undefeated in conference play as they improved to 12-3 overall and 4-0 in the league. The Aggies had their three-game winning streak snapped as they fell to 8-6 overall and 0-2 in the Freedom.

The teams had seven ties and three lead changes in the first half with DeSales eventually taking a 29-27 lead after the opening 20 minutes. The game was tied on three more occasions in the second stanza before a pair of free throws by Jeremy Beckett and a layup by Zach Sly gave Delaware Valley a 43-39 advantage with 13:06 remaining.

However, the next 11 minutes belonged to the Bulldogs as they ran off 10 straight points and 25 of 33 for a 64-51 lead. Six different players scored for DeSales during the spurt including six points apiece from Mike Coleman and Michael Guldin.

Delaware Valley fought back in the final 2:19 and made it a one-possession game as Nick Sullivan drained a pair of 3-pointers as part of a 12-3 run. His last trey came with 30 seconds to go to make it 66-63.

Guldin was fouled three ticks later and made just one of two free throws. The Aggies came down the court and had three opportunities, including a pair of layups, but they could not connect and the Bulldogs gained possession. Guldin was fouled with six seconds left and he sank both for the 69-63 final.

Paul Pammer led DeSales with 22 points while Brett Moyer had 11 points and 14 rebounds. Guldin added 11 points and four assists in the win.

Beckett netted 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds while Daulton Derr finished with 13 points for Delaware Valley. Daulton Derr finished with 13 points while Sullivan came off the bench and drained all four of his 3-point attempts to end the afternoon with 12 points.
