DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Delaware Valley College improved to 4-0 on the season, including a 3-0 mark at home, as the Aggies defeated Goucher College, 3-0. Set scores in the non-conference match were 25-23, 25-22 and 25-21.
Delaware Valley has now won 13 consecutive matches in James Work Gymnasium. The streak began last year when the Aggies captured all 10 of its battles in front of the home crowd.
Delaware Valley trailed 22-21 in the opening set when it won four of the final five, including three kills by
Gina Page. The Aggies led by as many as seven in the second set, only to see the Gophers (0-4) pull to within one at 23-22. However,
Janel Gluch recorded back-to-back kills to win the set. It was Gluch down the stretch again in the third as she had two of the team's final four points.
Gluch, an all-Freedom Conference honoree last season, finished the evening with 12 kills and one block.
Alyssa Riggins added eight kills and 13 digs while Page had seven kills and 13 digs.
Destinee Horning notched six kills and 14 digs while
Crystal Ronan had 28 assists, 13 digs and four aces.
Sammy Alevras-Tarbell and
Alex DeFrancesco tallied 14 digs apiece in the win.
Megan Chalk finished with 13 kills and 12 digs for Goucher. Tori Rain contributed seven kills and 15 digs while Sarah Johnson dished out 23 assists.
