MACKIN'S GOLDEN GOAL EXTENDS DELVAL'S UNBEATEN STREAK TO FIVE

DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Junior defender Dan Mackin picked the right time to score his first collegiate goal as he found the net with 6:36 left in the second overtime to give Delaware Valley College a 1-0, non-conference victory over visiting Arcadia University.

It marked the fourth time in seven games this season that the Aggies went into overtime and they improved to 2-1-1 in those contests. They extended their unbeaten streak to five (4-0-1) and improve their overall mark to 5-1-1. That victory mark already surpasses last year's entire total when Delaware Valley finished 4-14 in Tom Drummond's first season as head coach.

The Aggies has two corner opportunities in the second overtime, the second coming three minutes into the session. Kevin Robinson sent a crossing pass in the air and Tyler Yankovich headed it wide right of the goal. An Arcadia defender tried to clear the ball with a header, but the attempt floated right to Mackin. With the goalie coming at him, Mackin volleyed the ball from about 12 yards out and it dribbled into the left corner of the net for the game-winning tally.

The Knights (3-2-2) dominated the shot total in regulation with a 15-3 advantage. They also had a 9-1 edge in corners through the first 90 minutes, but they could not get the ball past Aggie goalkeeper Chase Clement, who finished the game with seven saves.

Both teams had a corner opportunity in the first overtime with Delaware Valley getting two shots off compared to one by Arcadia in those 10 minutes. The Aggies then had the lone shot of the second extra session, that being Mackin's “golden goal.”

Ryan Lantzy finished with two saves for the Knights.
