DELVAL SPLITS HOME TRI-MATCH

DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Delaware Valley College moved its record to 7-2 on the season as it split a home tri-match on Saturday. The Aggies dropped a 3-2 decision to Cairn University (formerly Philadelphia Biblical University) before bouncing back with a 3-0 sweep of New Jersey City University.

In the match with Cairn, Delaware Valley jumped out to a 2-0 lead with sets scores of 25-19 and 29-27. The Highlanders took the next two, 25-23 and 25-20, to force a fifth and deciding set. Cairn completed the comeback with a 15-9 score.

Destinee Horning paced Delaware Valley with 18 kills while also adding 14 digs and four blocks. Alyssa Riggins had 12 kills and 19 digs while Janel Gluch added 11 kills. Crystal Ronan's line included eight kills, 17 digs and 46 assists. Rachel Johnson and Brigid Shehan led Cairn with 21 and 11 kills respectively.

The Aggies then posted a straight set victory over New Jersey City (3-3) with scores of 25-18, 25-7 and 25-11. They registered 43 kills and a .333 hitting percentage while the Gothic Knight notched just 12 kills and had 17 hitting errors.

Gluch had 15 kills with Riggins adding 10 for Delaware Valley. Ronan dished out 40 assists. Jade Medley paced New Jersey City with seven kills.

In the other match of the day, Cairn (7-4) downed New Jersey City, 3-0 (25-7, 25-18, 25-15).
