DELVAL SWEEPS PAIR OF MATCHES

DOYLESTOWN (PA) – The Delaware Valley College volleyball opened the 2012 campaign with a pair of 3-0 victories over Bryn Mawr College and Immaculata University as part of a home tri-match.

The Aggies are coming off the greatest season in program history as they went 21-9, reached the Freedom Conference tournament for the first time since 1988 and earned its first-ever bid to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) South Region playoffs. Nearly the entire roster is back from that squad.

The Bryn Mawr match saw Delaware Valley take the sets by score of 25-18, 25-12 and 25-17. The team notched 39 kills to just six attack errors and also added 10 service aces. 2011 all-conference honoree Janel Gluch had 12 kills and one error in 22 attempts while 2010 all-Freedom pick Alyssa Riggins recorded 11 kills with no errors in 21 attempts. Gina Page added eight kills and 14 digs while Crystal Ronan dished out 29 assists. Rachel Ofili led Bryn Mawr with six kills.

Delaware Valley completed the sweep by notching set scores of 25-16, 25-16 and 25-19 over Immaculata. Page led the way with 10 kills while Riggins and Gluch had eight and seven kills respectively. 2011 all-conference honoree Destinee Horning provided four kills and a match-high 19 digs. Ronan had 23 assists, 14 digs and seven of the team's 13 service aces. The Mighty Macs were led by Allison Lang's five kills.

Bryn Mawr defeated Immaculata, 3-1 (23-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-14) in the other match of the day.
