CHESTER (PA) – Wesley College used a 15-1 run in the latter stages of the game to pull away from Delaware Valley College and post a 78-72 triumph in the championship game of the Widener University Tip-Off for Autism Awareness.

After the ninth tie of the contest, the Aggies' Zach Sly hit a layup with 7:29 remaining to give his team a 60-58 advantage. However, the next six minutes belonged to the Wolverines (2-0) as they hit five of eight shots from the field, were 4-for-5 from the foul line and forced five turnovers. Tournament Most Valuable Player Paul Reynolds scored 10 of the 15 points, including the first six.

Delaware Valley (1-1) made one last run as, down 75-63, it notched nine of the next 10 points, to make it a four-point contest with 22 seconds to go. Wesley then turned the ball over, but the Aggies missed a shot and then were forced to foul Jacquard Hagan with 14 ticks remaining. Hagan hit both free throws for the 78-72 final.

Wesley, which held a 36-35 lead at halftime, shot 53.8 percent from the field and were 16-for-18 (88.9%) from the charity stripe. The Wolverines also held a 36-25 advantage on the boards. Reynolds finished with 21 points and six rebounds in just 19 minutes of action. Hagan added 20 points while Quincy Pettiford was named to the all-tournament team as he racked up 12 points and seven boards.

Delaware Valley seniors Jeremy Beckett and Daulton Derr also earned spots on the all-tournament team. Beckett notched 17 points and four rebounds on Saturday while Derr, who had 19 points in Friday's semifinal win over two-time NCAA qualifier Skidmore College, had eight points before fouling out. Jay Donovan and Francis Arnold hit double digits with 12 and 11 points respectively.
