DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Defending Freedom Conference champion Misericordia University scored two goals in the first half as the Cougars blanked host Delaware Valley College, 2-0.
The win lifted Misericordia to 8-4-1 overall and 2-0 in the Freedom while the Aggies fell to 6-3-1 overall and 0-2 in league action.
It was scoreless for the first 28 minutes until the Cougars were awarded a penalty kick. Andy Bush took the shot and beat Delaware Valley goalkeeper Chase Clements for his ninth goal of the season. Then with 9:32 to go before the intermission, Nick vonEgypt connected for his second tally of the year.
Misericordia held a 13-7 advantage in shots, including a 6-0 edge in the opening 45 minutes. The Cougars also had a 9-7 lead in corners. Billy Sopko picked up the shutout while Clement finished with seven saves for Delaware Valley.
