AGGIES FALL 80-62 TO FIRST-PLACE KING'S

DOYLESTOWN (PA) – King's College led from start to finish as the Lady Monarchs remained in a tie for first place in the Freedom Conference with an 80-62 victory over host Delaware Valley College.

King's improved to 14-8 overall, 8-3 and deadlock with Misericordia University atop the Freedom standings. The Aggies saw their record drop to 9-13 overall and 3-8 in conference action.

The Lady Monarchs scored 12 of the game's first 14 points and never looked back. They built the advantage to as many as 20 in the first half and took a 45-28 advantage into the intermission. The squad outrebounded Delaware Valley, 34-18, including 18 on the offensive glass that led to 15, second-chance points.

King's increased the lead to 27 points midway through the second half and was still up 21 when the Aggies, with three underclassmen on the court, went on a 14-2 run to make it a 69-60 ballgame with 4:59 remaining. Melissa Weil hit a pair of treys while Amanda Turowski also hit from long range to spark the run. Delaware Valley was still down nine a minute later when the Lady Monarchs scored the final nine points to seal the win.

Lindsey Atchison and Celia Rader had 17 points apiece to lead King's while Atchison also grabbed nine rebounds as the Lady Monarchs finished with a 53-33 edge in the category. Kaitlin Michaels and Samantha Simcox added 11 points apiece with Simcox also notching eight boards.

Emily Soper scored 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds for the Aggies. Delcasale added 13 points and five rebounds while Weil finished with 10 points.
