EWING (NJ) – The College of New Jersey went on a 14-4 run midway through the second half which led the Lions to a 74-61 victory over visiting Delaware Valley College in a non-conference game.
The Aggies (5-3) held a 19-13, first-half lead when TCNJ (6-2) scored 10 straight to go ahead by four. The Lions eventually took a 28-23 advantage into the break. Delaware Valley opened the second stanza with seven consecutive points, capped by a
Grace Mirack trey, to regain the lead.
The game went back and forth with the Lions holding a three-point advantage before the Aggies'
Sarah Innerst connected for a basket and a foul to tie it up with 12:57 remaining. However, the next three-plus minutes belonged to TCNJ, especially Kelly Coughlin as she came off the bench and sank a trio of 3-pointers. Her shooting keyed the run that gave the Lions a 56-46 advantage with 9:03 on the clock and Delaware Valley never got closer than six points the rest of the way.
Coughlin finished with four bombs and 12 points. Jessica Imhof led all players as she was 9-for-11 from the field (2-for-4 from 3-point land) and 5-for-5 from the foul line for 25 points. Hannah Tait added 20 points in the win.
Emily Soper paced the Aggies with 23 points, 10 rebounds and five blocked shots.
Brittany Battinieri finished with 17 points, six rebounds and four assists. Innerst and Mirack had seven points apiece.
