AGGIES MAKE IT FOUR STRAIGHT WITH WIN AT ROWAN

GLASSBORO (NJ) – The Delaware Valley College women's basketball team improved to 4-0 on the season as the Aggies traveled to Rowan University and posted a 75-62, non-conference victory.

Delaware Valley had three freshmen, one junior and one senior in its starting lineup as opposed to the Profs' starting five that consisted of four seniors and one junior. However, the young Aggies took command of the game in the first half and never relinquished it.

It began with a 16-4 run that turned a tied ballgame into a 32-20 advantage with 4:58 left in the opening stanza. Delaware Valley used the three-point shot to ignite the spurt as freshman Grace Mirack and Kaylin Ryan hit back-to-back treys and senior Brittany Battinieri shortly followed with a long bomb of her own. Battinieri added a layup later in the run as her five points led the rally.

The Aggies eventually took a 37-28 lead into the intermission. Rowan (2-2) crawled back to within three, 39-36, when Lauren Gregg hit a layup with 16:06 remaining. Delaware Valley answered with six straight, including four by Mirack.

The Profs made it a five-point game shortly after, but an 11-2 Delaware Valley spurt upped its lead to 58-44 midway through the half. Rowan never got closer than eight points the rest of the way.

Junior Emily Soper played just 20 minutes due to foul trouble, but she still scored a team-high 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Battinieri finished with 14 points while sophomore Sarah Innerst gave the squad a big spark off the bench with 15 points in 18 minutes. Frreshmen Brenna Coll and Shannon Barlow had 11 and six points respectively and the two also combined for 20 rebounds. Mirack ended the evening with seven points.

Lauren Creel led the Profs with 21 points while Gregg added 16 points and 12 rebounds in the loss.
