CENTER VALLEY (PA) – Defending Freedom Conference champion and regionally-ranked DeSales University used a pair of first-half goals to down visiting Delaware Valley College, 2-1.
The Bulldogs, listed fifth in the latest Mid-Atlantic Region rankings, upped their record to 12-2-1 overall and a perfect 4-0 in the conference. The Aggies fell to 4-10 and 0-4.
Midway through the first half, Derek Long sent a pass to Steve Krause and Krause connected for his fifth goal of the season. Then with 6:43 to go before the intermission, Adam Berish scored his first goal of the year to make it 2-0.
Delaware Valley made it a one-goal contest with 23:05 remaining in regulation as a shot went off a DeSales player for an own goal. The Aggies managed just two shots and could not notch the equalizer the rest of the way.
The Bulldogs outshot Delaware Valley, 26-5, and also held a 7-6 advantage in corners.
DJ Meisinger was credited with six saves for the Aggies.
