SHUNKWILER'S CAREER DAY LEADS AGGIES TO 81-70 VICTORY

DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Delaware Valley College junior forward Jackie Shunkwiler scored 24 of her career-high 29 points in the second half to lead the host Aggies to an 81-70, Freedom Conference victory over Wilkes University.

Shunkwiler, who notched her previous high of 21 points in Wednesday's loss at Manhattanville College, topped that on Saturday as she hit nine of 12 shots from the field (1-for-2 from 3-point land) and was 10-for-11 from the foul line in just 23 minutes of action. Eight of her field goals came in the second half, including a 3-pointer which resulted in a four-point play as she was fouled on the shot. Shunkwiler also had eight rebounds on the afternoon.

Delaware Valley (8-10, 2-5 Freedom) led for nearly the entire first half, but the Lady Colonels (3-13, 0-7) hit four 3-pointers in the opening 20 minutes and were down by just, 34-28, at the break. Wilkes was still down by just seven five minutes into the second stanza when the Aggies went on a 13-3 run to open up a 59-42 advantage with 10:38 remaining. The Lady Colonels never got closer than 11 points the rest of the way. Shunkwiler had eight points in the spurt, including the four-point play, while Brittany Battinieri added the remaining five.

Battinieri finished with 15 points, six assists, four rebounds and three steals. She also hit a trio of 3-pointers to move into second place on the Aggie all-time list. Battinieri's 183 treys surpassed 1995 graduate Kate Monahan's total of 182 and she is just six bombs shy of tying 2008 graduate and former teammate Moira Donohue for the all-time record.

Emily Soper contributed 15 points, a game-high 14 rebounds and five blocks in the win while Sarah Innerst came off the bench to tally 11 points, eight assists and five steals.

Sam Lynam scored 22 points and also added eight rebounds and five assists for Wilkes. Megan Kazmerski notched 21 points, six boards and four assists while Whitney Connolly added nine points.
