DELVAL DROPS 3-2 DECISION AT CENTENARY

HACKETTSTOWN (NJ) – Devon Paffendorf and Erika Chu combined for 41 kills as Centenary College posted a 3-2 victory over visiting Delaware Valley College in a non-conference match.

Set scores were 25-21, 20-25, 27-25, 22-25 and 15-13 in favor of the Cyclones, who improved to 4-14 on the season. Delaware Valley fell to 5-7.

The back-and-forth affair saw both teams combine for 105 kills, 31 service aces and 26 blocks. One of the differences in the match came in the fifth set as Centenary recorded eight kills and just two errors while the Aggies had just three kills and three errors. Delaware Valley was also without the services of leading hitter Kaitlyn Olsen (injury) for the second straight match.

Paffendorf finished with a match-high 24 kills and eight errors in 71 attack attempts. Chu followed with 17 kills and also added six blocks. Jelena Markovic finished the evening with 35 assists and 19 digs.

Freshman Janel Gluch paced the Agies with 13 kills and eight blocks. Senior Kelsey Fisher notched 12 kills and one error in 31 attacks while classmate Ashley Mikulsky had 10 kills and seven digs. Freshman Destinee Horning added nine kills, five service aces and 14 digs while senior Amy Scordato handed out 39 assists in the loss.
