DELVAL POSTS 78-61 TRIUMPH OVER FDU-FLORHAM

DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Delaware Valley College hit eight 3-pointers in the first half to build a 43-25 advantage and the Aggies went on to a 78-61 home triumph over Freedom Conference foe FDU-Florham.

Delaware Valley improved to 10-9 overall and 4-5 in the conference while the Devils dropped to 1-18 and 0-9.

Delaware Valley was 17-for-32 (53.1%) from the field in the opening half, including an 8-for-15 showing from beyond the arc. Four of those treys ignited a 23-6 run over the final 10 minutes of the stanza to open up what was 20-19 contest. Chris Mayo came off the bench to hit three of the bombs and finished the half with nine points.

FDU-Florham got to within 11 points and had the ball with a chance to get its deficit into single digits halfway through the second half, but Jeremy Beckett blocked a shot and Darryl White had a layup off a fast break opportunity at the other end. That started a 13-4 run that put the lead back up to 20 and the Aggies cruised from there.

White and James Jones netted 17 points apiece with White also adding 12 rebounds for a double-double. Mayo finished with 12 points, five rebounds, four steals and three assists in 20 minutes of action. Carroll Mitchell contributed 11 points, six assists, four rebounds and three steals in the win.

Ricky Fetske had 15 points to lead the Devils. Adam Katz ended the evening with 11 points, seven rebounds and seven assists.
