WILKES-BARRE (PA) – King's College hit 14 of 21 shots from 3-point land, including a combined 12-for-15 by Celia Rader and Kayla Dick, as the Lady Monarchs downed visiting Delaware Valley College, 78-60, in a crucial Freedom Conference game.
After winning seven in a row, the Aggies (15-7, 7-4) and have now dropped two straight and slipped into a third-place tie with both King's and Misericordia University in the Freedom standings with three games remaining. The top four teams qualify for the conference postseason and the Aggies do have a victory over the first-place team in Manhattanville College, a win that may come into play with tiebreakers. The Lady Monarchs upped their overall record to 12-10.
King's was deadly from lone range, especially the tandem of Radie and Dick. Rader, a freshman, was a perfect 7-for-7 from 3-point land and finished with a career-high 23 points. Dick, a sophomore, also had a career night as she hit five of eight attempts from beyond the arc and finished with 19 points.
The game was tied at 10-10 when the Lady Monarchs scored 13 in a row to take the lead for good. They were up 38-23 at the break and led by as many as 24 in the second half. Delaware Valley did force 34 King's turnovers, but the Lady Monarchs held a 51-27 advantage on the boards.
Kim Vennera had 16 points to pace the Aggies.
Brittney Zimmerman added 15 points, seven steals, six rebounds and four assists while
Jenna Peoples notched 11 points and six blocked shots.
Brittany Battinieri also reached double digits with 10 points.
