CENTER VALLEY (PA) – DeSales University went on an 11-0 run in the second half as the three-time defending Freedom Conference champions pulled away to a 69-60 victory over visiting Delaware Valley College.
The Lady Bulldogs (4-3, 1-1 Freedom) went on a late run in the first half and took a 36-29 advantage into the intermission. DeSales still had a six-point lead with 14:20 remaining in the contest when the Aggies (3-4, 0-2) went on a 13-2 spurt over the next four minutes to take a 51-46 advantage.
Delaware Valley lost the lead, but regained at 55-54 as freshman
Sarah Innerst hit a layup with 7:16 left on the clock. It was all DeSales from there as it took advantage of four Aggie turnovers and scored 11 straight points for a 10-point lead with 4:43 to go. The Aggies never got closer than seven the rest of the way.
The Lady Bulldogs forced 29 turnovers in the contest and converted them into 34 points compared to 13 forced turnovers and 14 points by Delaware Valley. Lori Lidlow had 17 points for DeSales while Sondrine Glovas added 15.
Sophomore center
Emily Soper led the Aggies with 20 points, including a 10-for-12 showing from the free throw line. She completed the double-double by pulling down a team-high 11 rebounds. Innerst finished with 11 points while
Brittany Battinieri and
Jackie Shunkwiler had nine points apiece.
