PHOENIXVILLE (PA) – Senior forward
Tom Antonucci became Delaware Valley College's all-time leader in both goals and points as he scored three times and assisted on another in the Aggies' 6-1 win at Valley Forge Christian College.
The win improved Delaware Valley to 6-10-1 on the season while the Patriots saw their record fall to 4-12. .
Antonucci, who transferred in from Division I Rider University prior to last season, helped put the Aggies on the board less than 10 minutes into the contest as he set up
Tom Masterson for his second goal of the season. Later in the half,
Tyler Yankovich made it 2-0 off a feed from Alessandro Cessario.
Then it became the Antonucci show. With 9:04 left in the opening half, and just 40 seconds after Yankovich's tally, Antonucci tied 2002 grad Tommy Arndt as he deposited his fourth goal of the season and the 23rd of his Aggie career. It also put him at 58 points and one behind 2002 Logan Dunn's record in that category.
Nine minutes into the second half, Antonucci took care of both records as he took a pass from Masterson and beat Valley Forge Christian goalkeeper Mark Bowman. Antonucci then completed the hat trick on Monday with an unassisted tally, his sixth of the year, with 29:43 remaining.
Yankovich made it 6-0 with his second goal of the game and sixth of the season. Masterson completed a four-point day by assisting on that tally. The Patriots avoided the shutout with 8:08 remaining on a Matt McKenzie goal.
Delaware Valley held an 18-10 advantage in shots and an 8-4 advantage in corners. D.J. Meisinfer stopped three shots and earned the win.
