DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Delaware Valley College shot 55.4 percent from the field, including a 62.5-percent clip in the second half, as the Aggies cruised to an 81-62 home victory over Manhattanville College in a Freedom Conference game.
The win was the second straight for Delaware Valley as it improved to 8-7 overall and 3-3 in league action. The Valiants fell to 9-8 and 3-3.
The Aggies connected on 31 of 56 shots from the field while holding Manhattanville to 38.3 percent shooting. They also notched a 42-29 advantage on the boards and was 17-for-24 from the foul line.
Delaware Valley held a 19-17 lead halfway through the opening half when it scored 11 of the game's next 14 points for a 30-20 advantage with 4:30 on the clock. Four different players found the net for the Aggies and the run was capped by one of
Darryl White's three dunks in the game. Angelo Laroche scored five straight for the Valiants, but Delaware Valley countered with a 10-4 spurt, including four by
Chris Ellis, as it took a 40-29 lead into the intermission.
Manhattanville was never able to make a run in the second stanza as the Aggies hit 15 of their 24 attempts from the field. The lead never slipped into single digits and Delaware Valley built it up to as many as 23, 72-49, with 6:23 remaining.
Four players reached double figures for the Aggies, led by White's 19 points, seven rebounds, three blocks and three steals in just 26 minutes of action. Ellis had a double-double with 13 points and 10 boards while
James Jones and
Carroll Mitchell also had 13 points apiece. Jones' line also included seven rebounds and four assists.
Laroche had 22 points for Manhattanville while Felipe Vargas came off the bench and hit for 19 points thanks for 7-for-8 shooting from the field, including a perfect 4-for-4 from beyond the arc.
