DELVAL OPENS FREEDOM ACTION WITH 3-0 SETBACK TO KING'S

DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Kaitlyn Malshefski had 14 kills to lead King's College to a 3-0 victory over host Delaware Valley College in the Freedom Conference opener for both teams.

The Lady Monarchs improved their overall record to 4-2 while the Aggies lost for the first time in 2009 as they saw their record go to 3-1.

After dropping the first game 25-19, the Aggies rallied from three down in the second game and tied the score at 23-23. However, kills by Malshefski and Colleen Grosenick gave King's a 2-0 lead. The squad then put the match away with a 25-18 decision in the third game.

Malshefski, the reigning Freedom Conference Player of the Week, got this week off to a good start as she notched her kill total with just three errors in 33 attempts. She also added 11 digs on the evening. Emily Kline added nine kills while Kelly Greenway had 23 assists for the Lady Monarchs.

Sophomore Kaitlyn Olsen paced Delaware Valley with 12 kills and two blocks. Amy Estep and Ashley Mikulsky combined for 11 kills and 26 digs while Jaki Blood and Amy Scordato combined to dish out 25 assists.
