SCRANTON (PA) – Delaware Valley College improved to 4-2 on the season and surpassed its entire win total from last year thanks to a 2-1, non-conference triumph at Marywood University.
The Aggies, under third-year head coach Brian Kammersgaard, went 3-14-1 in 2008 and have now gone past that victory total with 12 games still remaining on the schedule. The Pacers fell to 1-4-1.
Delaware Valley scored both of its goals in the first half as
Eric Devlin and
Tyler Yankovich found the net on assists from
Tom Antonucci. Devlin tally came with 28:37 remaining in the stanza as he scored from 10 yards out. Yankovich headed one in 16 minutes for the 2-0 advantage.
Marywood need just 92 seconds into the second half to reach the scoreboards as Brett Megee headed a corner kick from Ryan Jones past Aggie keeper D.J. Meisinger. The Pacers had several great opportunities to equalize, but were unable to so, including one where an Aggie defense cleared the ball at the goal line to preserve the win.
Marywood held advantage of 20-17 in shots and 6-2 corners. Meisinger played 51 minutes and notched one save while
Steve Richtmyer came in and had eight stops in the final 39 minutes of action.
