DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Senior midfielder
Bethany Pavlik became just the second player in Delaware Valley College field hockey history to surpass the 100-point plateau for a career as she scored four times in the Aggies' 7-1, season-opening victory over Richard Stockton College.
Pavlik notched a single tally in the first half and added three more in the second stanza. In the process, she joined former teammate and recent graduate
Michelle Cernobyl on the exclusive scoring list. Pavlik, a two-time all-Freedom Conference honoree, now has 39 goals and a school-record 24 assists for 102 points.
Holly Rich gave Delaware Valley a 1-0 lead just 6:06 into the contest as she deflected home a crossing pass from
Danielle Heyne. Two minutes later, Heyne set up Pavlik for goal number one. It remained a 2-0 game until the early portion of the second half when Pavlik and Rich notched back-to-back goals just 49 seconds apart. Pavlik scored off an assist from
Marissa Di Miero just 2:58 into the stanza and Rich followed shortly after off a feed from
Nikki Rogers.
The Ospreys got on the scoreboard with 29:36 remaining Bernadette Jablonoski scored off a Nancy White assist. However, the Aggies put the game away as Pavlik scored two straight unassisted goals and Heyne added a tally off an assist from
Holly Rich,
Delaware Valley held a 40-6 advantage in shots and a 16-2 advantage in corners.
Hollis Hancock made four saves and earned the win. Debi O'Kane finished the afternoon with 27 saves for Stockton.
