AGGIES' WINNING STREAK ENDS AT MANHATTANVILLE

PURCHASE (NY) – Delaware Valley College saw its five-game winning streak come to an end as the Aggies dropped a 73-46 decision to host Manhattanville College in a Freedom Conference game.

Delaware Valley fell to 9-11 overall and 5-7 in the conference. The setback, combined with Alvernia University's 59-56 victory over King's College, dropped the Aggies a half game behind Alvernia (6-7) for the fifth and final playoff spot in the Freedom with four games remaining. The Crusaders have the off night in conference play on Wednesday while Delaware Valley, searching for their first playoff berth since 1969, will travel to league newcomer Eastern University.

The Valiants (13-8, 9-3) led from start to finish on Saturday afternoon as they went ahead by as many as 11 in the first half and took a 36-29 advantage into the locker room. The Aggie got the first bucket of the second stanza on a Chris Mayo layup, but Manhattanville scored 13 of the next 15 and never looked back.

Four players reached double figures in scoring by the Valiants, including Wesley Wicks' game-high 14 points. Trevoy Pointer and Angelo Laroche added 13 and 12 points respectively while DeVon Barnett came off the bench to notch 11 points in 15 minutes of action.

James Jones, the Freedom Conference's leading scorer at 20.3 points per game, was just 2-for-8 from the field and finished with 10 points and five rebounds. Mayo paced the Aggies with 11 points while Jason Seipt added seven points in the loss.
