AGGIES FALL AT FDU-FLORHAM IN CONFERENCE OPENER

MADISON (NJ) – Danielle Michlovsky finished with 23 points and hit key free throws down the stretch to lead FDU-Florham to a 66-61 victory over visiting Delaware Valley College in the Freedom Conference opener for both teams.

The Devils (4-4, 1-0) led throughout most of the contest, including a 26-22 advantage at the intermission. They went up by as many as nine in the second half and held a 62-55 lead with 49 seconds remaining after Michlovsky sank two from the foul line.

A Brittney Zimmerman trey with 34 seconds to go pulled the Aggies (3-3, 0-1) to within four, and they then got the ball back after a pair of missed free throws by FDU-Florham. Jackie Shunkwiler was fouled with 31 seconds left on the clock and she hit both attempts to make it a 62-60 contest.

Shealyn Taggart was sent to the foul line two seconds later for the Devils and she hit just one of two, leaving it a one-possession game. Delaware Valley missed a layup opportunity, grabbed the offensive board and then turned the ball back over to FDU-Florham. Michlovsky was fouled with 11 ticks to go and she hit both of her opportunities to ice the game.

Delaware Valley struggled from the field all evening as it shot just 17.6 percent from the field in the first half and finished the game 17-for-66 (25.8%), including a 6-for-21 (28.6%) effort from 3-point land. Kim Vennera paced the team with 23 points and also added eight rebounds and five steals.
