DELVAL ROUTS PENN STATE BRANDYWINE, WILL BATTLE ROWAN IN TOURNAMENT FINAL

GLASSBORO (NJ) – Delaware Valley College advanced to the championship game of the Heritage's Dairy Stores Classic at Rowan University thanks to a 79-47 rout of Penn State Brandywine.

The Aggies are now 5-3 on the season and will take on the host Profs at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Rowan posted an 82-60 victory over Berkeley College in the other opening round match-up. Penn State Brandywine fell to 0-8 with the loss.

Delaware Valley never trailed on Friday and the only time the game was tied was at 2-2 in the opening minute. The Aggies quickly jumped out a 13-4 advantage and eventually took a 37-25 lead into the intermission.

Delaware Valley then outscored the Nittany Lions, 42-19, in the final 20 minutes. Part of that dominance was an 18-0 run to start the half as Penn State Brandywine did not score until 10:43 was left on the clock. The spurt was led by Chris Ellis and James Jones as they combined for 13 of the 18 points.

All 12 Aggies saw action with 11 hitting the scoring column. Jones finished with 18 points and seven of Delaware Valley's 21 steals as they forced Penn State Brandywine into 33 turnovers. Ellis had 14 points while Chris Mayo came off the bench to pour in 10 points.

Dave Buoni notched 11 points for the Nittany Lions while Dave Segura just missed a double-double as he had 10 points and nine rebounds.
