READING (PA) – Delaware Valley College placed six players in double figures as the Aggies cruised to a 98-60 victory over Valley Forge Military Academy in the consolation game of the Alvernia University Tournament.
Delaware Valley (2-1) scored the first six points of the game on a 3-pointer by
Jason Goldheimer, a layup by
James Jones and a free throw by
Jeremy Beckett and never looked back. The Aggies built the advantage to 29, 54-25, at the break as they hit 21 of 37 shots from the field, including a 7-for-12 showing from 3-point land. The lead then ballooned to as many as 29 in the second stanza.
Beckett and Jones notched 16 points apiece with Beckett adding 20 rebounds in just his third collegiate game.
Mike Williams had 10 points and eight boards while
Carroll Mitchell,
Jason Sofman and
Jon Evans each came off the bench to notch 14, 13 and 12 points respectively.
Valley Forge Military Academy (0-3) was led by Emmanuel Pittman's 23 points. Craig Bateman added 15 points in the loss.
