AGGIES LET LEAD SLIP AWAY IN LOSS TO IMMACULATA

READING (PA) – Immaculata University rallied from a 17-point halftime deficit and posted a 60-58 victory over Delaware Valley College in the opening round of the Alvernia University Tip-Off Tournament.

The Aggies fell to 1-1 on the year and will now battle Valley Forge Military Academy in Saturday's consolation game (1:00 p.m).

It was a tale of two halves for Delaware Valley as it used torrid shooting to jump out to a 41-24 advantage at the break. The Aggies shot 58.6 percent from the field (17-for-29), including a 5-for-7 effort from 3-point land, in those opening 20 minutes.

However, the Aggies went the opposite direction in the second half as they managed just 17 points while shooting 6-for-25 from the field (25 percent) and 1-for-9 from beyond the arc.

The Mighty Macs erased the deficit by scoring the first 18 points of the second stanza. Delaware Valley did not get on the board until James Jones hit a pair of free throws with 11:49 remaining. That ignited an 8-0 run for the Aggies, but Immaculata closed the gap again and the two teams began to trade the lead.

Delaware Valley took its last lead with 2:13 to go as a Jason Goldheimer jumper made it 55-54. However, Immaculata's Robert Siter hit a pair of free throws on two separate trips to the line, the last coming with 25 seconds left, to give the Mighty Macs a 58-55 advantage. Delaware Valley turned the ball over on its next possession and Siter was fouled with eight ticks left. He calmly hit two free throws to ice the game.

Jones finished with 11 points and six rebounds for the Aggies while Jeremy Beckett, Chris Ellis and Chris Mayo added 10 points apiece. Nelson Torres led all players with 18 points for Immaculata. John Boyd had 13 points and 10 rebounds while Siter also finished with 13 points.
