DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Max Stossel scored on a breakaway with 3:50 remaining to lift visiting Haverford College to a 3-2 victory over Delaware Valley College in a non-conference game.
With the game heading towards overtime, Matt Gorski sent a pass ahead to a streaking Stossel. Stossel got the ball in the Aggie box and beat goalkeeper D.J. Meisinger to the low right corner for his third goal of the season.
The Fords (5-5) scored two goals in the opening 11 minutes for an early advantage. Matt Wetherell's first goal of the season occurred just 2:35 in the contest while Gorski followed shortly after off an assist from Julien Calas.
Delaware Valley's
Tom Antonucci took matters into his hands as he scored twice in a three-minute span in the latter stages of the first half. He first found the net off a feed from
Eric Devlin with 14:37 to go, and followed with 11:14 left on the clock with
Garrett McKissock earning the assist. Antonucci, a junior transfer, now has 17 goals on the year while his 41 points in just 11 games with Delaware Valley (6-4-1) already has him tied for fifth place on the school's all-time scoring list.
The Aggies outshot Haverford, 15-13, with the Fords holding a 5-1 margin in corners. Meisinger and Haverford's Jeff Rickert notched four saves apiece in the win.
