MADISON (NJ) – All five Delaware Valley College starters reached double figures in scoring as the Aggies cruised to an 83-53 road victory over FDU-Florham in a Freedom Conference game.
The win improved Delaware Valley to 3-6 overall and 1-2 in the Freedom. Rookie head coach
Casey Stitzel and his squad have now exceeded their conference win total last year while also matching their overall tally with 16 games remaining on the schedule.
The Aggies never trailed in the contest as they hit 10 of their first 17 shots from the field, en route to a 24-7 score. Their lead never dwindled under 11 points in the stanza and they took a 33-20 advantage into the intermission.
James Jones and
Jason Seipt led the first half charge with 11 and eight points respectively.
The Devils (3-9, 1-2) opened the second half with six straight points on back-to-back treys by Mike Henry and Adam Katz to make it a 33-26 contest. However, all five Aggie started hit the scoring column in a 17-6 run that put the game away. Delaware Valley connected on 50 percent of its attempts from 3-point land (11-for-22) and forced 21 turnovers on the evening.
Jones notched 18 points, seven rebounds and five assists while his backcourt mate, Seipt, added 10 points, seven assists, seven steals and six rebounds. Up front,
Jon Evans drilled five treys in his first start of the year and finished with 15 points and six boards.
Mike Williams added 15 points and seven rebounds while center
Edward Carter finished the evening with 11 points.
Katz tallied 13 points to lead FDU-Florham while Ricky Fetske had 11 points and 13 rebounds. George Twill also hit double digits with 10 points.
