ZIMMERMAN'S CAREER DAY LEADS AGGIES TO 75-60 VICTORY AT WILKES

WILKES-BARRE (PA) – Delaware Valley College freshman guard Brittney Zimmerman scored a career-high 29 points to lead the Aggies to a 75-60, Freedom Conference victory over host Wilkes University.

Delaware Valley won for the third time in its last four games and improved to 10-9 overall and 4-6 in the Freedom. The Lady Colonels fell to 10-9 and 5-6.

Zimmerman has started all 19 games and had to move to the point guard position after 2008 Freedom Conference Rookie of the Year Brittany Battinieri suffered a season-ending injury in the fourth game of the year. She was simply dominant on Saturday as she played the full 40 minutes and hit 7 of 16 shots from the field, including a 5-for-10 showing from 3-point land. Zimmerman also connected 10 of 12 attempts from the foul line to help her top her previous high of 18 points that she set in Monday's road win at Centenary College. Zimmerman's line also included six steals, five rebounds and four assists.

The Aggies, behind 11 from Zimmerman, jumped out to a 25-15 advantage in the first half. However, Wilkes went on a 15-5 run over the final 7:34 of the stanza and the teams went into the intermission tied at 30-30.

In the second half, the Lady Colonels scored six straight to turn a three-point deficit into a 42-39 advantage with 13:24 remaining. The Aggies then took command of the game as they scored nine straight and 16 of 18 for a 55-44 lead with 9:31 to go. Zimmerman scored six points in the spurt while fellow rookie Erin Boyer added five. Wilkes never got closer than nine points the rest of the way.

Delaware Valley was deadly from 3-point range as it hit 12 of 23 attempts, including the five by Zimmerman. Boyer came off the bench to drain four of five 3-point shots and she finished with 14 points. Jackie Shunkwiler added 13 points while Kim Vennera recorded 11 points, 11 rebounds and six assists in the win.

MacKensey O'Hara and Sam Lynam paced the Lady Colonels with 13 points apiece. Samantha Simcox had a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 14 rebounds.
