BIG SECOND HALF LIFTS WILKES PAST DELVAL, 74-57

DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Wilkes University outscored host Delaware Valley College, 42-24, in the second half as the Lady Colonels notched a 74-57, Freedom Conference game.

The Aggies (6-6, 2-3 Freedom) scored the final eight points of the first half, including four by freshman Jackie Shunkwiler, to take a 33-32 advantage in the intermission. However, it all was all Wilkes in the second stanza as it shot 53.8 percent from the field while holding Delaware Valley to 28.6 percent shooting. The key to the half was a 16-2 run that upped a 46-44 lead to 62-46 with 7:50 remaining.

Erin Schneider came off the bench to lead the spurt eight points. She finished a perfect 5-for-5 from 3-point land, en route to a game-high 23 points in just 17 minutes of action. Chelsey Gosse added 16 points and boards while Samantha Simcox and Allison Horn followed with 11 and 10 points respectively.
Kim Vennera paced the Aggies with 21 points. Rochelle Teesdale poured in 11 points while Shunkwiler finished with 10 points and five rebounds.
