KING'S RALLIES FOR 83-78 WIN OVER DELVAL

WILKES-BARRE (PA) – Kevin Conroy poured in a career-high 41 points as host King's College rallied from a 12-point, second-half deficit and defeated Delaware Valley College, 83-78, in a Freedom Conference contest.

The Monarchs, who are the two-time defending conference champions, moved their record to 8-5 overall and 1-4 in the Freedom while the Aggies saw their marks drop to 3-7 overall and 1-3 in the league.

Conroy, a 6-foot-5 sophomore forward/center, hit 11 of 17 shots from the perimeter and went to the foul line 21 times. In fact, he made more free throws (19) than Delaware Valley attempted (17) in the game. Conroy was especially tough down the stretch as he scored 11 of King's final 13 points – all at the charity stripe.

The Aggies led throughout most of the contest and still held a 74-70 advantage after Jason Seipt hit one of two free throws with 3:35 remaining. However, Conroy hit six consecutive free throws over the next 2:30 to give the Monarchs a two-point lead.

Seipt hit one of two foul shots with 1:16 to go to pull Delaware Valley to within one, 76-75. However, an Eric Brown layup at the other end made it a three-point game with 39 ticks left. The Aggies' Jason Goldheimer missed a 3-point attempt and Conroy was fouled. He hit one of two free throws with 29 seconds left and later hit two more with 18 ticks remaining for an 81-75 advantage. Seipt made things interesting as he drilled a trey to cut the King's lead in half with nine seconds remaining. Conroy was fouled a second later and calmly hit both for the final points of the game.

Delaware Valley had a 27-26 lead with 6:43 remaining in the first half when it scored eight straight on two treys by Jon Evans and a layup by James Jones to up its lead to nine. The Aggies eventually took a 42-38 lead into halftime.

It was a seven-point game early in the second when Seipt hit a 3-pointer and a layup on back-to-back possessions to give Delaware Valley its largest lead of the game at 12, 59-47, with 13:49 remaining. However, Conroy and his teammates found an answer for King's as the defending Freedom champs rallied for the win.

Seipt finished with 19 points and six assists to pace the Aggies. Goldheimer came off the bench to notch 18 points while Mike Williams added 14, all in the first half. Evans also finished in double figures with 11 points.
