PHOENIXVILLE (PA) – Freshmen Joey Ordile and Bryan Beaver scored their first collegiate goals to help Delaware Valley College post a 3-0 shutout over host Valley Forge Christian College in a non-conference game.
With the victory, second-year head coach Brian Kammersgaard and the Aggies improved to 2-4-1 on the season. They have already matched last year's win total (2-16-1) and still have 11 games remaining on the schedule. The Patriots fell to 4-5.
Ordile picked up his first collegiate point 13 minutes into the contest as his throw-in led to sophomore Andrew Kelley's second goal of the season. Ordile then found the back of the net off a feed from junior Eric Maciag to give Delaware Valley a 2-0 lead with 14 minutes to go before halftime.
Beaver then notched his first tally as he took a pass from fellow rookie Mark Bucci and beat Valley Forge Christian goalkeeper John Schanck with three minutes remaining in the contest.
Delaware Valley held a 15-3 advantage in shots and an 8-3 advantage in corners.
Tristan Preece made three stops to pick up the win while Steve Richtmyer also saw time in net for the Aggies. Schanck had nine saves for the Patriots.
