AGGIES STAY HOT, DOWN RICHARD STOCKTON

POMONA (NJ) -- Delaware Valley College tied a program record with its fifth consecutive win as the Aggies scored two goals in the first half and held off host Richard Stockton College, 2-1

Delaware Valley is now 6-1 on the season which is the best seven-game record in program history. Meanwhile it is the fourth time, including once in each of the last three seasons, that the Aggies have produced five straight victories. They will go for six in a row at home on Saturday, September 20 against Division II Philadelphia University.

The Ospreys (0-4) had a great chance to take the early lead on a penalty stroke by Jackie Turner just 3:08 into the game, but her high shot was denied by Aggie goalkeeper Jackie Deschenes. Delaware Valley then got the scoreboard at the 7:15 mark as Danielle Heyne tipped home a feed from Bethany Pavlik for her fourth goal of the year.

Later in the half, Michelle Cernobyl doubled the Aggies' lead to 2-0 with an unassisted goal at 27:29. It was the senior's 13th tally of the year and eighth in the last three games.

In the second half, Stockton pulled within 2-1 with 19:58 remaining when Christy Barbetto poked a loose ball into the cage. Delaware Valley held strong on defense and kept the Ospreys off the scoreboard for the rest of the game to earn the victory.

The Aggies held a 13-5 advantage in shots and a 14-3 advantage in corners. Deschenes made two saves in the winning effort while Debi O'Kane and Christine Harvey combined for four stops the Ospreys.
