DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Washington & Lee University shot 61.7 percent from the field and led from start to finish in a 74-60, non-conference triumph over host Delaware Valley College.
The Generals (3-2) connected on 29 of 47 shots, including a 13-for-22 effort (59.1%) in the first 20 minutes as they took a 33-23 advantage into the intermission. They were even better in the second stanza as 16 of their 25 attempts (64.0%) found the bottom of the net.

Chris Mayo pulled the Aggies (1-3) to within four, 21-17, with 6:46 remaining in the first half. Washington & Lee responded with a 12-2 spurt to open its largest lead of the stanza, 31-19, with 2:01 to go. Chris McHugh and Zac White had three points apiece in the run.
Delaware Valley pulled to within eight on two occasions, including after a jumper in the pain by Mayo made it 35-27 with 17:51 remaining. The Generals scored eight of the next 11 points to up their lead to 13 and they cruised the rest of the way.
Ryan Owens paced Washington & Lee with 17 points and 10 rebounds while Ben Goetsch and McHugh added 14 points apiece. Ben Heller came off the bench to net 13 points in 22 minutes of action.
Mayo, a freshman, hit 10 of 14 shots from the foul line and finished with a team-high 16 points. Sophomore transfer
