YORK RALLIES FROM FIRST-HALF DEFICIT, DOWNS DELVAL 91-77

CHESTER (PA) – York College shot 68.8 percent from the field in the second half and outscored Delaware Valley College, 63-36, over those 20 minutes as the Spartans rallied for a 91-77 victory in the opening round of the Oki Data Americas Tip-Off held at Widener University.

The Aggies (0-2) will now take on Penn State Brandywine, which dropped a 106-53 decision to the host school, in Saturday's consolation game (1:00 p.m.).

The game was a 12-12 standstill before the Aggies went on a 9-0 run at the midway point of the first half. They kept extending the lead and upped it to 37-19 with 4:25 remaining as Jason Goldheimer netted back-to-back baskets.

York (1-2) scored seven straight to make it an 11-point contest, but Delaware Valley's Cam Prince came downcourt and hit a 3-pointer while being fouled. He sank the free throw to and make it 41-26 with 2:30 to go and the Aggies eventually took a 41-28 lead into the intermission.

However, the Spartans, an 18-win team from a year ago, exploded in the second half as they hit 22 of 32 shots from perimeter, including s 4-for-5 effort from 3-point land,

York caught the Aggies six minutes into the second stanza, and the teams then traded the leads over the next few possessions, including when James Jones hit a trey to give Delaware Valley a 54-53 advantage with 13:05 remaining. From there it was all Spartans as they scored 11 straight, including seven by Nick Brady, to take e lead for good.

Brady finished with 27 points, including 23 in the second half. Jeremy Keefer notched 24 points and 18 rebounds while Paul Kouvaris and Dylan Hoffman added 12 and 11 points respectively for York.

Jones led the Aggies with 19 points while Prince came off the bench to net 13. Jason Seipt, the lone senior on the young squad, contributed 12 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. Goldheimer also hit double digits with 10 points.
