The 2024–25 season marks Muhamadou Kaba’s fourth year at the helm of the Delaware Valley University men’s basketball program.
During his tenure, Kaba has led the Aggies to two MAC Freedom postseason appearances and compiled 50 victories. After being picked last in the 2024–25 preseason poll, Kaba guided the Aggies to their fourth MAC Freedom Championship, earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. He was named both MAC Freedom Coach of the Year and D3hoops.com All-Region 4 Coach of the Year.
Under Kaba’s leadership, DelVal closed the season on a 5–1 run, earning its first playoff berth since 2022 and hosting a conference semifinal for the first time since 2017. Defensively, the Aggies ranked second in the league, allowing just 68.3 points per game.
Junior Antonio Redding was named MAC Freedom Co-Player of the Year after averaging 17.5 points per game over 21 appearances, including 10 performances with 20+ points. He led all of NCAA Division III in three-point shooting at 51.1% and ranked third nationally in free throw percentage (92.1%), missing only five attempts all season. The team was also honored with the Sam Schoenfeld Sportsmanship Award, presented by the Collegiate Basketball Officials Association (CBOA), recognizing outstanding sportsmanship from coaches, players, and fans.
In his first season (2021–22), Kaba posted a 15–10 record—the program’s best since 2016–17—and saw graduate guard Pernell Ghee earn All-MAC Freedom Second Team honors.
Kaba joined Delaware Valley following a successful four-year stint as assistant coach at Division II East Stroudsburg University. At ESU, he helped the Warriors to four straight winning seasons, an 86–34 record, two PSAC regular season titles, two NCAA tournament appearances, and the school’s first Atlantic Region championship.
In 2018, Kaba was named to the prestigious Under Armour NABC “30-Under-30” list, honoring the nation’s top young coaches. He was one of just six Division II coaches recognized that year. The selection came after a 27–6 campaign, which included the program’s third PSAC title in seven years and a historic Atlantic Region crown.
In addition to on-court responsibilities, Kaba served as ESU’s recruiting coordinator, academic liaison, and travel coordinator. He was also active on campus, serving on the Diversity and Inclusion Committee and participating in the department’s Call To Action Webinar Series.
Kaba began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at ESU in 2016–17. As a student-athlete, he was a four-year letterwinner (2011–15), co-captain, and SAAC representative. He played in 113 games and was part of two PSAC Championship teams and three NCAA Tournament squads. The 2014 team went 30–2 and reached the Atlantic Region final.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in mathematics in 2015 and a master’s in exercise science in 2018, both from East Stroudsburg University.
