A local high school coaching legend who has a stadium named in his honor, Mayson joined the DelVal staff prior the 2017 season to work as a tight ends coach under one of his former players in head coach Duke Greco.
Following last year's run to a MAC championship and the NCAA quarterfinals, Mayson received a special honor from the Maxwell Football Club.
Mayson spent the last 36 years as the head football coach at Lower Moreland High School and nearly 30 years as the district's athletic director. He retired on June 30, 2017 but not before having the high school stadium named after him.
As head coach, Mayson led Lower Moreland to three straight Bicentennial Athletic League titles (2008-10) and two district titles (2008-09) and three appearances in the state playoffs in the past decade alone.
Prior to Lower Moreland, Mayson taught and coached for nine years, starting in 1973.
Mayson earned a bachelor’s degree in health and physical education from West Chester University and a master’s degree from Beaver College (now Arcadia University)..
