2017 is Avery's second year on the coaching staff of his alma mater and he will once again serve as an assistant to the linebackers coach.

Avery battled through injuries during his career and racked up 122 tackles and three sacks from his linebacker position. He was a member of the 2011 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) team and went to the NCAA Division III playoffs with DelVal in 2011 and 2014.

Avery graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in counseling psychology in 2016 and is currently pursuing his master's.
