John Love

John Love

John Love was named head baseball coach in September, 2018 and finished his second year at the helm last spring.

In his first year, he led the Aggies to seven MAC Freedom wins, the program's best mark since 2012. They finished the 2019 campaign 13-25 overall and 7-14 in league play.

Two players, Tom Crooks and Troy Lachenmayer, earned all-MAC Freedom honors and 15 student-athletes were named to the MAC Academic Honor Roll.

In 2020, DelVal baseball's season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The team had played just eight games, all during its spring break trip in Fort Pierce, Florida.

Love began his career as an assistant at Hiram College in Ohio for three years and was also the head coach of a travel team in the area. Love moved onto Central College in Iowa and was there from 2014 to 2016. He organized and oversaw all aspects of the pitching staff and guided a freshman to the conference's Pitcher of the Year award.

Love then spent two seasons as an assistant coach at fellow Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) school Lebanon Valley College where he was in charge of the pitching staff. The Dutchmen reached the MAC Commonwealth tournament in 2017. In 2018, he spent time as an assistant for the Strasburg Express of the prestigious Valley Baseball League and was set to begin a stint at York College of Pennsylvania when the head coaching opportunity at DelVal became available.

Love earned a bachelor of science degree in sport management and education from Juniata, where he was a baseball and football student-athlete and entered the baseball record books in a number of categories. He earned a master's degree in interdisciplinary studies from Hiram in 2014.Â
