Women’s Volleyball Falls to FDU-Florham in Three Sets

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Delaware Valley women's volleyball team dropped a three-set match to FDU-Florham on Tuesday night, falling 25-11, 25-7 and 25-21. The Aggies battled back in the final set, taking an early lead before the Devils closed out the match.

The Aggies struggled to find their offensive rhythm in the opening two sets, falling 25-11 in the first frame. Charlotte Kampf, Monique Smith and Zoe Bera each recorded kills, but DelVal was unable to sustain its attack as the Devils pulled away.

DelVal continued to battle in the second set, tallying five kills from Kampf, Smith, Madison Alexander and Ariana Hernandez. FDU, however, maintained the pressure and limited the Aggies to just seven points, taking the set 25-7 and a 2-0 lead in the match.

The Aggies came out with renewed energy in the third, with Smith and Hernandez helping DelVal jump out to a 6-4 lead. After the Devils evened the score, Layla-Deanna Rabanal delivered her first kill of the night to spark a 5-1 Aggie run. Kills from Smith and Kampf, along with a service ace from Alexander, pushed DelVal ahead 12-8 for its largest lead of the night.

FDU quickly answered, leveling the score at 14-14 before taking a two-point advantage. Rabanal responded with another kill, while a service ace from Camilla Garcia briefly put the Aggies back in front. The Devils, however, closed the set with a 7-2 run to secure the 25-21 win and complete the three-set victory.

The Aggies return to action this weekend at the Alvernia Tri-Match, facing Rutgers-Camden at 1 p.m. before taking on host Alvernia at 3 p.m.
