Women’s Volleyball Falls to Lebanon Valley on the Road

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Delaware Valley women's volleyball team fell to Lebanon Valley in straight sets (25-13, 25-17, 25-15) in its second conference matchup of the season Wednesday night.

Camilla Garcia, Monique Smith and Zoe Bera powered the Aggies' attack early, combining for DelVal's first seven points of the opening set. Lebanon Valley created separation midway through the frame, but kills from Bera, Garcia and Ariana Hernandez kept the Aggies battling. The Flying Dutchmen maintained their advantage down the stretch to secure the 25-13 win.

DelVal responded with a strong start in the second, racing out to a 5-0 lead behind kills from Smith, Garcia and Layla-Deanna Rabanal. Lebanon Valley answered with a 16-4 run to swing the momentum and take a seven-point advantage. The Aggies battled back with four straight points, highlighted by a pair of Garcia kills, to trim the deficit, but the Flying Dutchmen closed out the frame, 25-17.

Lebanon Valley opened the third with a 9-3 advantage before DelVal answered with three straight points, including a Garcia kill and a service ace from Hayley Drinkard. Madison Alexander later connected on a kill to bring the Aggies within four as DelVal looked to close the gap. Garcia, Smith and Charlotte Kampf combined for six more kills throughout the remainder of the frame, but the Flying Dutchmen held off the Aggies to take the set, 25-15, and complete the sweep.

Garcia paced the DelVal attack with a season-high 12 kills. Drinkard recorded the Aggies' lone service ace while leading the defensive effort with nine digs.

DelVal returns to action Saturday, Sept. 26 at the Drew Tri-Match. The Aggies will face SUNY Maritime at 2 p.m. before taking on host Drew at 4 p.m.
