UNION, N.J. – The Delaware Valley women's lacrosse team struggled to get offensive momentum and was ultimately shut out by Kean 17-0 on the road.
The Cougars kicked off the first half strong and fast jumping ahead by 12 challenging junior goalkeeper
Emily Drake with 15 shots on the net. DelVal was held shotless in the first 15 minutes, but
Abbie Hostetler managed to make contact with the Kean goalie five minutes into the second frame firing off the lone shot of the half stopped by the stick of Brooke Sztenderowicz.
Momentum slowed in the second half for Kean adding to their tally by just five with Drake making four saves in the nine shots faced. The Aggies offense showed some promise firing off five shots while placing two on the cage in the final 15 minutes. A foul on the Cougars put
Piper Jones in free scoring position just over 30 seconds in to the final quarter sending the shot wide.
Carley Lengel-Kramer got a shot off in the sixth minute, sending it just wide of the net. Hostetler finished things off with three shots in the final nine minutes placing one high and two right into the stick of the Kean goalkeeper.
Jones led the Aggies in ground balls with four. She and
Gabriella Guerra recorded a team-high two draw controls each. Hostetler led the Aggies in shots with four placing three on goal and Lengel-Kramer caused a team-high two turnovers.
DelVal returns to action this Monday, Mar. 23 facing Gwynedd Mercy on the road at 4 p.m.
