DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Aggies opened Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom play on Saturday afternoon, falling 2-0 to visiting Misericordia at Robert A. Lipinski Field.
Misericordia applied pressure early, earning back-to-back penalty corners in the opening minutes and recording a shot on each opportunity, but goalkeeper
Gracyn Shutt came up with a pair of saves to keep the game scoreless. Delaware Valley generated its best chance of the first quarter in the 11th minute when
Kylie Conley fired a shot off a penalty corner, but the Cougar defense turned away the attempt.
The Cougars carried the momentum into the second quarter, scoring twice to build a 2-0 advantage at halftime while limiting the Aggies to no shots in the period.
DelVal looked to respond after the break but managed just one shot in the third quarter. The Aggies continued to push offensively down the stretch, earning two penalty corners in the final nine minutes of play.
Caylen Taylor's shot on the first corner was blocked, while
Savannah Weaver's attempt on the final corner of the contest was saved as Misericordia preserved the shutout victory.
Delaware Valley returns to MAC Freedom action on Wednesday, Oct. 7, when it travels to Arcadia for a 3 p.m. matchup.
