DOYLESTOWN, Pa. — Delaware Valley University football dropped its 2025 home opener to Hampden-Sydney College, 38–9, on Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers struck first, scoring on a 16-yard pass before connecting on a 40-yard touchdown to Cunningham. He added a second straight score on a 42-yard reception to make it 14–0 with 6:48 left in the first quarter. On the next drive,
Micah Bootman forced and recovered a fumble to give the Aggies possession, but DelVal gave it back soon after on a fumble by Kahir Thampson.
DelVal got on the board in the second quarter when
Brendan Hazell drilled his first career field goal, an 18-yarder. Later in the half, Michael Galasso hit Cory Gordon for a 74-yard touchdown, though the extra point was blocked, cutting the deficit to 17–9.
After an hour-long rain delay, a personal foul penalty set Hampden-Sydney up on the one-yard line, and they punched it in to extend the lead to 24–9. The Tigers added two more scores in the fourth, including a 35-yard touchdown through the air and a short rushing TD, sealing the 38–9 victory.
The standout for DelVal was
Jeremiah Clark, who racked up 15 total tackles, including 1.5 for a loss.
With the loss, the Aggies fall to 0–1 on the season. They will look to bounce back at home next Saturday, September 13, against King's College in their MAC opener.
