DOYLESTOWN, Pa. — Marissa Rogers scored in the opening minute for Delaware Valley women's soccer, as the Aggies battled to a 1–1 draw with Neumann University on Wednesday evening.
Just 59 seconds into the match,
Alexa DelGiudice rattled a shot off the crossbar, and the rebound fell to Rogers, who buried it for her first collegiate goal and an early 1–0 lead. Neumann answered in the eighth minute when Hannah Dang slipped a shot past starting goalkeeper
Nicole Ocejo to even the score. DelGiudice nearly put the Aggies back in front later in the half, but her attempt was stopped as both teams traded chances heading into the break.
The second half began tightly contested, with neither side creating much until the 62nd minute, when Ocejo made a save on Neumann's Purcell. In the 67th minute,
Jenna Green and Neumann's Miller were each issued yellow cards. Minutes later, Poehlmann nearly gave the Knights the lead after beating the keeper, but her shot rolled just wide of the post. Neumann controlled much of the late possession, but the Aggies' defense held strong to secure the draw.
With the result, Delaware Valley moves to 0–2–1 on the season. The Aggies return to action Saturday, September 6, on the road at Susquehanna University.
