WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Delaware Valley women's volleyball team struggled to put together a solid run to pull ahead of King's, falling to the Monarchs in three sets.
Madison Alexander kicked off the scoring with a service ace in the first set. The Monarchs quickly responded, building up a six-point lead, 13-7. Two kills from
Kai Logan and another service ace from Alexander cut the deficit to three for the Aggies, 13-10, but King's finished out the set on a 12-6 run for the win, 25-16.
DelVal outpaced the Monarchs 9-5 to start the second set. A quick 5-1 response from King's changed the lead followed up by a kill from
Samantha Wilton to even the score at 11 apiece. The Monarchs finished out the set with the 14-6 scoring advantage to claim the win 25-17.

Ariana Hernandez, Logan, and Alexander kept the Aggies ahead 6-3 to start the final set. Slowly the Monarchs crept in with a 7-4 spurt to even the score, 10-10. A kill from Logan put the Aggies back on top, but King's put up four unanswered to change the tide back in its favor, 14-11. The teams 8-8 over the next rallies keeping DelVal just a short reach away from the Monarchs' lead, 22-19. King's finished off the set with the 3-1 edge for the win, 25-20.
Logan led the Aggies' offense with eight kills. Alexander put up 25 assists and a team-high three service aces.
Nia Walker led the defense with 17 digs. Smith put up the lone block of the game for the Aggies.
DelVal is back in action this weekend at the Penn State Abington Trimatch facing Keystone College at 1 p.m. followed by the hosts at 3 p.m.
