DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Delaware Valley women's volleyball team put together some comeback runs but struggled to get over the hump falling to Cairn in three sets.

Madison Alexander pushed the Aggies to an early 7-3 lead over the Highlanders. Cairn quickly mounted a comeback tying the score three times before taking the ultimate lead. DelVal was held to just six more points in the set with both
Kai Logan and Alexander recording kills. The Highlanders claimed the set 25-15.
The Aggies tied the score four times through the opening rallies of the second set. Cairn responded quickly using a 13-3 run to take a double-digit lead, 17-7. A kill from Smith turned the tides beginning a 10-3 spurt for the Aggies highlighted by additional kills from Alexander,
Cassandra Gloster and
Ariana Hernandez. The run brought the deficit down to just three, 20-17, but the Highlanders held the 5-2 edge to take the set, 25-19.
Gloster put the first point of the final set on the board for the Aggies. She tallied three more kills through a Cairn 18-8 run. A group of errors from the Highlanders was joined by a service ace from Alexander to bring the deficit back down into single digits, 18-12. Cairn held the 7-5 advantage to finish off the set, 25-17.
Gloster led the Aggies in kills in the match with eight. Alexander tallied a team-high 14 assists and the lone service ace of the game.
Kai Logan tallied the only block of the game.
Samantha Wilton led the defensive efforts with a team-high 19 digs.
DelVal is back in action this weekend at the Lycoming Trimatch on Saturday, Sep. 20. The Aggies will take on the host at 11 a.m. before facing Albright at 1 p.m.
